Fashion Fridays Trend Alert: Crop Tops & Short Sets

My Fashion Friday trend alert are these matching crop top short sets. Don't call it a COMEBACK! Well it looks like the 90's are making a major fashion comeback with these matching sets. 

This trend is stylish and comfortably effortless for those ladies looking for a cute, easy-to-wear outfit for the warmer days. It can  be worn in many versatile ways, with the endless printed options. Or you can go monochrome and stick to the basic color spectrum. You can spot this trend on celebrities to everyday fashionistas. 

For those ladies looking to be fashionable on a budget you can find some sets in Urban Outfitters, Forever21, Asos, TopShop, River Island, and even JC Penny to name a few. There are also many online and IG boutiques these sets can be bought on, some include; Eight Karats, @theredvixen, @klosetenvy_vintage, and many more.

 I love this trend because it looks flattering on all ladies. Whether you decide to dress it up for the evening with a pair of pumps or dress it down for the beach, its sure to look trendy and feel amazing.

   

This trend will undoubtedly be taking over this Spring/ Summer season. I know I got me a few.

Feeding Your Hair

PSA LADIES! CONDITION! CONDITION! CONDITION! 

Whether your natural, relaxed, or transitioning it is extremely important to condition your hair with the right nutrients after and between washes. I personally use a variety of different conditioning combinations. All of them are heavy with organic nutrients and vitamins used to make my hair healthier, reduce breakage and shedding, and enhance strength. Today I will be sharing one of my favorite deep-conditioning mix. Lately my natural hair has been frizzing up and becoming uncontrollable, it has also been shedding more than normal. I knew this was probably due to me constantly wearing sew-ins, taking them out, washing my hair, then putting them back in. I gave my hair no time to breathe and I wasn't able to moisturize as frequently as I should. I figure a quick solution to this problem was to gave my hair a break (of course) but first I needed to give it a good wash and deeeeeeep conditioning treatment. After washing my hair with Garnier Fructis Haircare Pure Clean Fortifying Shampoo I use my "Anti-frizz/shedding" mix.

Ingredients include:

• Pure soybean and extra virgin olive oil
• Twisted Sista de-frizz conditioner
• 1/4 cup of mayo
• 1 egg
• Shea Moisture Raw Shea Butter Deep Treatment Masque

This combination controls frizz and prevents shedding in "MY" hair.

I detangle while the mixture is still in my hair and separate it by two-strand twisting in big sections. After I am done I place a disposable shower cap on my hair and secure it with an scarf tightly. This create a "greenhouse type of effect" . The heat created helps the mixture work more efficiently. In the morning I wash out the mixture and style as desired.

It is important that you find what combination work perfect for your type of hair. The most effective way of figuring this out is trial and error. A trick I use to to test my mix on one section of my hair overnight and see how it works. 

Designing Using Unconventional Materials

So my first design project as a Fashion student is to create a garment using unconventional material. It took me forever to come up with my design but I finally sketched this baby out lol.
Materials I'll be using are:
-artificial flowers
-artificial palm leaves
-umbrella
-netting
-ribbon
Other materials:
-Glue gun
-Scissors
-Needle & thread
-pins

Charleston Fashion Week

Just got the e-mail. I'm going to be a part of Charleston Fashion Week 2013. Even though its just a volunteer position it's still a great opportunity. Can't wait to enjoy the events and network. Pics will be posted so stay tuned

What's On Izzy?...Rihanna Unapologetic Album

Rihanna's Unapologetic ulbum was released on November 17th. This album was everything I anticipated. It gave me eternal life. It is definetely one of her best albums to date. She has so many amazing tracks on this project, that yo can tell she wasn't playing any games in the studio.

 Of course I have my favorites. "Power It Up", is my would have to be my favorite on this album. Its a nice club banger that makes you feel yourself a lil. I can see the DJ playing "Fresh Off The Runway" and "Numb" in the club too. Of course she added a few love ballads, "Stay", "Love Without Tragedy", and "Love Song". 

She alway surprised me by revamping two old school songs. "Jump", which samples Ginuwine's "Pony" is bananas. She teams up with Chris Brown on "Nobody's Business", which samples Michael Jackson's "The Way You Make Me Feel". This song has an old school 90s vibe that works. Other features include David Guetta, Future, Eminem, and Mikky Ekko. 

The vibe of the album as a whole was unapologetic in a way. She said I'm going to mix Pop, Hip-Hop, and Dance, and your going to like it. Well I love it. On another note check out her GQ issue.
